Introduced in March 1959 and discontinued five months later, the Canonflex was Canon’s first 35mm SLR. What it lacked in shelf life, it made up for in bravado. This large, meticulously made beast sported a bottom-mounted film advance trigger, possibly the largest shutter speed dial on any camera and an external selenium exposure meter that literally scares off evil-doers. Our “1959” pays homage to this classic camera.
